Sneak Peek into Davila: Showreel

As part of my studies through TAFE SA, my colleagues and I hosted a Graduate Exhibition, showcasing our best work through video show reels to industry leaders and professionals. The "PEEK" event was conceptualised, organised, branded, advertised and funded by the 11 students of the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design 2022 graduating class.

PEEK was a play on words, allowing viewers a 'sneak peek' into the 'peak' of our skills as students, before we enter the workforce to continue climbing the even bigger summit.

As the event became closer, a big part of the concept was to slowly reveal more and more: more colours, more details and more theme elements, before the final reveal on opening night. The epitome of the theme, only revealed closer to the event was the focus on each student's unique vector eyes, through which we see the world, and perceive each other's work.

My official roles were Co-Chairperson, Project Manager and Team Lead for the organising committee of the event.

In addition, I:

- acted as the Secretary in committee meetings

- designed and produced wayfinding (environmental) signage for the event

- drew animation storyboards for the animation team

- created a mini-directory of the exhibiting designers in the form of a ID-sized program attached to a handy lanyard

- and, opened the evening as Co-Master of Ceremonies.

This time, we are skipping straight to the good stuff.

We each had to create a unique vector eye

with a unique surface pattern...

...to put together our combined reel, final brand identity, program lanyards and environmental signage...

The lanyards were cleverly created using a "traffic light" system.

Students had their unique pattern and a QR code to their portfolio.

Industry professionals, TAFSA staff/students and friends/family each had a different colour cover logo, so presenting students could use their limited networking time as effectively as possible.

We used a combination of Instagram and TAFE SA's existing connections to industry to promote the event

... and of course,

it was a smashing success!!
